Baristas- work behind the counter making coffee and serving patrons. Food handlers card is required.

Bookstore- help with cataloging and shelving books, filling online orders, and seeking out new inventory.

Event Planning- help plan and schedule events to reach out to the community and draw them to the store. Regular events already include Art Walk, Open Mic, and Native American Flute Circle. We regularly have concerts, artist and author visits, and would like to offer other outreach events as well!

Clerical- are you good with numbers? Computers? Keeping track of cafe inventory, sales, and other such stuff? This could be the perfect way for you to be involved.

IT- no… that’s not “it”- IT is information technology. If you know how to work a webpage, send out mass emails, and operate a computer beyond just the basics then this is the group for you!

Maintenance- if you are good at fixing things when they break and keeping things running, then this is definitely the spot for you. There may be future opportunities for small projects or moving things around (beyond just sliding the table from spot A to spot B). Handy Smurf, where are you???

In our first month we have added exciting entertainment events to our weekend lineup and more local groups are now having their meetings in The Firewheel. We have expanded our weekday hours, opening at 6 am and closing at 7 pm Monday to Friday. Group meetings continue to be scheduled for after hours. These accommodations and changes are going a long way to ensure we meet our monthly expenses, but we still have an outstanding payment due to the prior owners for the purchase of the business.

We have come a long way in a short time and overcoming this final hurdle is all that stands in the way of success. People have opened not only their pocketbooks but their hearts to the Firewheel Foundation. Remember, all the people working here are unpaid volunteers who have donated time and/or financial assistance because they believe so much in the idea of building community. They will carry on and with your continuing support so will the Firewheel.

Financial support to accomplish this dream is needed. What we build here will last beyond us and be representative of the strong community we wish to leave our friends and loved ones.
